Thank you for inviting me to celebrate the release of ER Doc’s Las Vegas Reunion, Cameron! This is my first medical romance novel with Harlequin, and I am so excited to hear what readers think.
Most readers know me for my Harlequin Intrigue romantic suspense novels, as well as my contemporary romance books. Before writing the medical book, I’d gotten to a point in my career where I was ready to step out and try something new. Considering I’ve been a caregiver for both of my parents and closely connected to their health journeys, penning this novel felt like a natural progression.
The main trope is second chance, which is one of my absolute favorites. I enjoyed exploring the possibility of my hero and heroine, Clark and Eva, finding their happily ever after while reconnecting in the most unexpected way. The pair were close friends during medical school, but an intimate night together broke that bond. Afterwards, neither Clark nor Eva thought they’d find their way back to one another.
Then fate intervenes. They’re forced to work together under stressful circumstances inside a hectic ER, all while fighting their undeniable chemistry. Their rocky past leaves them both afraid to explore something more. But as feelings resurface, truth bombs are dropped and emotions come to a head, forcing them to revisit mistakes once made in order to determine where they should go from here.
Clark and Eva’s story is a reminder that true love, no matter how complicated, always prevails. This novel was such a joy to write. An added bonus is that it takes place in Las Vegas, which is one of my favorite cities in the world. I incorporated plenty of the exciting aspects of Sin City as a backdrop to the pair’s steamy affair, from the thrilling nightlife to the unique medical emergencies only a Vegas ER would see. My hope is that readers will relish in these characters’ journey to happiness as much as I did while writing it.
