I’m a horror writer at heart, so there’s a splash of horror in everything I write. It started when I was young; my Mom got me into watching scary movies as a kid. As a result, I have a unique and strange holiday tradition. I watch a movie that my Mom and I watched together when I was young, and even though she now lives in Florida and I live in San Francisco, I always think of her when I watch it. The movie is Psycho. After all, a boy’s best friend is his mother.
My New Year’s celebration is a little more traditional. My friend Gladys and I attend a big bash at a friend’s house in San Francisco. The food is great, the champagne and wine flows, and the place is packed with fifty plus people. It’s an extremely diverse bunch and always a great time.

Stripper turned author Matt Converse of San Francisco used his own life experiences in writing his two book series Strip Shot and Behind the Velvet Curtain.
